Grant Description
Reimbursement grants of up to $1,000 to USA individuals, organizations, churches, nursing homes, and government agencies for the installation of equipment that will help people with disabilities. Funding is intended for equipment that is clearly related to a specific medical need.

Eligible Vehicles:

Eligible Vehicles include new model Ford or Lincoln Cars, Vans, CUVs, SUVs or Trucks sold or leased during the program period and/or a new vehicle acquired from a U.S. Ford Pool Converter. 

Adaptive Equipment Eligibility:

Adaptive equipment includes installed devices and structural modifications that are necessary for a person with permanent special needs to drive or to be driven in a vehicle. The following types of adaptive equipment are eligible for reimbursement:

  • Carriers
  • Parking Brakes
  • Door Openers
  • Power Assist Seats
  • Hand Controls
  • Steering Devices
  • Lifts
  • Wheelchair Restraints

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Customer Eligibility:
The customer must be the end-user of the vehicle that requires installation.

Ineligible
Not eligible for reimbursement:
- Modification and equipment for used vehicles
- Equipment available as a factory option
- Running boards, lumbar seats, power windows, air conditioning, etc.

Equipment that can be factory installed, or is considered a factory option by Ford, is not eligible.

Used vehicles of any kind are not eligible in the Ford Accessibility Program. This includes those previously in rental service, lease service or repurchased vehicles available for resale.

Pre-Application Information
Applicants should visit their Ford Dealer for complete program details, including program effective dates, and eligible vehicles.

A claim must be submitted within 12 months of the reported sale date.

Program Steps:
1. Assess your needs: Visit your local Driver Assessment Center for an evaluation with a driver education specialist to determine your accessibility needs. Next, stop by your Ford Dealer to discuss vehicle options that can accommodate adaptive equipment and modifications appropriate for your specific needs.
2. Review adaptive equipment: Select a Ford Pro™ Upfitter (FPU) and order your adaptive equipment.
3. Purchase a Ford vehicle that fits your accessibility needs: YSelect and purchase your Ford vehicle and arrange for vehicle transport, modification and equipment installation with your Ford Dealer
4. Obtain Your Accessibility Reimbursement: Once your vehicle has been purchased and adaptive equipment installation is complete, simply give copies of the following receipts to your Ford Dealer:
Vehicle Bill of Sale (must have the VIN included)
Paid Adaptive Equipment Invoice (must have the VIN included)

Estimated Size of Grant
There are two types of funding for adaptive equipment:
- Maximum of $1,000 for adaptive equipment reimbursement
- $200 for alert hearing devices, lumbar support or running boards

Term of Contract
A claim must be submitted within 12 months of the reported sale date.
