In-kind grants to USA and International individuals, organizations, schools, businesses, and nonprofits to assist in the purchase of discounted 3D printers, curriculum, and related materials for educational purposes and to expand student access to 3D printers. Metal and polymer printers are available at a discounted price. Enabling educational institutions to provide access to 3D printers will help develop the ecosystem and accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing worldwide.
GE is awarding bulk discounts on Polar Cloud enabled 3D printers from Dremel, Flashforge and Ultimaker plus Polar Cloud curriculum from Autodesk, BlocksCAD, Makers Empire, and STEAMtrax as well as materials, training, and professional development.
The Program is building an ecosystem for 3D printing in education by networking students, machines and content via an online platform, the Polar Cloud. Educators and students from participating schools join the Polar Cloud to access the tools being provided under the Program, including 3D printers, curricula, design software, apps, competitions, and more in a collaborative and secure environment.
Participating schools can help grow the ecosystem and the value it provides students by:
- Access: get as many students, parents and educators as possible on the platform.
- Access: put 3D printers provided under the Program and any the school may already have on the platform and make them available “share” with the educators and students.
- Engagement: be active, utilize the curricula, encourage students to use the design tools, participate in Program competitions, collaborate on the platform, be entrepreneurial.
- Engagement: print, print, print.
