Grant Description
Grants of up to $35,000 to USA nonprofit organizations, including schools and agencies, for educational programs related to improving mental health. Funding is intended for innovative activities and projects that promote the science of interpersonal relationships. Grants can support pilot projects that may lead to larger projects to be funded by others. The Lewis Foundation is also interested in funding agency program evaluations.

The primary emphasis is on the role of interpersonal relationships in psychological development along the continuum from mental health to mental illness. Couple, parent-child, and family system relationships are of special interest. Other relationships, such as doctor-patient, teacher-student, or childcare provider-child, are of interest to the degree that they illuminate basic relational characteristics and psychological development.

Educational Programs should focus on:

  • Couple, parent-child, or family system psychological health or dysfunction
  • Psychoeducational transmission of interpersonal system concepts
  • Dissemination of interpersonal system information to health care professionals, educators, service program professionals, or the public.

This grant cycle also encourages proposals that may provide important reliability and validity for the Lewis Foundation Couple and Family Scales.

Grant applications should be written with two distinct audiences in mind - professional reviewers (clinical and development psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers) and board trustees (business and community leaders).
